Once you report the injury, your employer is responsible for filing a First Report of Injury with the North Carolina Industrial Commission.

You must seek medical treatment for your injury or illness immediately. Your employer may have a designated healthcare provider for workers’ compensation cases, so it is important to follow their instructions regarding medical treatment.

In addition to seeking medical care, you must follow your physician’s treatment instructions and attend all follow-up appointments.
