Breaking News: Stanly County Mourns Loss of Veteran Paramedic in Tragic Vehicle Accident

Albemarle, North Carolina — January 7, 2024 — According to WBTV, the Stanly County community is mourning the loss of Lt. William Oxendine, a veteran paramedic, field training officer, and dedicated volunteer firefighter, who tragically lost his life in a vehicle crash.

Lt. Oxendine, who served Stanly County Emergency Services for over two decades, was en route to work when the fatal accident occurred on U.S. Highway 52 in Norwood. Despite the swift response from multiple emergency agencies, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

 Tragic Vehicle Accident

In addition to his role with Stanly County EMS, Lt. Oxendine was a volunteer firefighter with the Central Rural Volunteer Fire Department, further exemplifying his commitment to public service and community protection.

The incident prompted a response from several local agencies, including Stanly County EMS, Central Rural Volunteer Fire Department, Southside Volunteer Fire Department, Norwood Police Department, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of the crash.

Plans for a memorial service to honor Lt. Oxendine’s life and service will be announced soon, along with ways for the community to offer their support during this difficult time. Lt. Oxendine’s dedication and impact on the lives of others will not be forgotten.
