Breaking News: Family of Teen Killed in Greenville Fun Park Tragedy Speaks Out

January 3 , 2025

Greenville, South Carolina — January 2, 2025 — According to Fox Carolina, the family of 17-year-old Kamel Seveion Sewell, who tragically lost his life in an accident at a Greenville amusement park, is sharing their grief and memories of him.

On December 27, Seveion, an employee at Frankie’s Fun Park, was operating a go-kart when it collided with an industrial forklift. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office determined that his death resulted from blunt force head trauma and ruled it accidental.

A junior at Fountain Inn High School, Seveion was remembered as a hardworking and ambitious young man. His mother, Deldress Sewell, and older sister, Shamirra Thomas, spoke at a press conference on January 2 about their loss.

Deldress shared that Seveion loved working at Frankie’s Fun Park and had taken on additional work at Whataburger to save up for a car. “He was so excited about his car,” she said. “He never even got to drive it around the block because it didn’t have tags yet.” Tragically, Deldress was at the DMV securing those tags when she received the devastating news of her son’s accident.

“This should’ve never happened to my child,” Deldress said through tears.

Seveion’s sister, Shamirra, recounted a heartwarming Christmas memory just days before the accident. “He texted us at midnight on Christmas Day to wish us a Merry Christmas,” she said. “We’ll carry this pain with us for the rest of our lives.”

The accident has left the family devastated, with the loss of a vibrant young man whose future was filled with promise. As the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) continues its investigation into the incident, Seveion’s loved ones are left grappling with the tragic loss and seeking answers.
