Breaking News: Charges Expected in Fatal Robeson County Crash That Claimed the Life of 56-Year-Old

March 16 , 2025

Robeson County, North Carolina — March 15, 2025 — According to ABC 15 News, a two-vehicle crash resulted in the death of a 56-year-old man, and authorities say charges are pending as the investigation continues.

According to First Sgt. S.B. Lewis, the crash occurred at the intersection of Iona Church Road and Raynham Road when one vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign. That vehicle was then struck by another car traveling through the intersection.

Following the impact, both vehicles left the roadway. One came to a stop off the right side of the road, facing northwest, while the other overturned and came to rest in the opposite direction.

Authorities confirmed that Johnnie Jacobs Jr., 56, was ejected from his vehicle during the crash and did not survive. It remains unclear whether the other driver, identified as being from West Virginia, sustained any injuries.

Investigators do not believe impairment was a factor, but running the stop sign has been cited as a contributing cause. Officials are still reviewing the incident, and charges are expected to be filed.
