Breaking News: Multiple Charges File After Cherryville Woman Killed in DWI Crash
June 28 , 2024Gaston County, North Carolina — June 27, 2024 — According to Fox9 WGHP, a man is facing several charges after a drunk driving crash that took the life of a Cherryville woman, the North Carolina Highway Patrol reports.
Troopers were called to Highway 150 near Bud Black Road, just outside Cherryville, for a head-on crash.
Investigators believe a 2012 Chevrolet Pickup truck crossed the center line into oncoming traffic, crashing into a 2020 Kia. The driver of the Kia, 56-year-old Loretta Howell, was pronounced dead before she could be taken to the hospital.
Nathan Lee Reinhardt, the driver of the pickup, was taken to CaroMont Regional Hospital in Gastonia, officials say.
He is charged with the following:
- Careless and Reckless Driving.
- Driving While Intoxicated (DWI).
- Left of Center.
- Felony Death by Motor Vehicle.
The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
