Breaking News: Fayetteville Pick-Up Truck Driver Runs Red Light, Collides with Dump Truck in Fatal Accident
June 19 , 2024Fayetteville, North Carolina — June 17, 2024 — According to WRAL News, around 7:30 a.m., the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the crash at the Ramsey Street and College Center Drive intersection.
Investigators said a pickup truck traveling west on Ramsey Street attempted to cross the intersection at Stacy Weaver Drive. A dump truck traveling north on Ramsey Street collided with the pickup truck. Police said the pickup truck ran a red light and entered the dump truck’s path, which could not avoid the collision.
The driver of the pickup truck, Richard Joseph Philpott, 57 from Fayetteville, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the dump truck was transported to Cape Fear Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
