Breaking News: Driver Killed in Head-On Randolph County Crash, Speeding Driver Facing Multiple Charges, including DWI and Felony Death by Motor Vehicle
June 13 , 2024Randolph County, North Carolina — June 11, 2024 — According to WXII 12, On Tuesday, just before 9 p.m., the troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to a crash on Loflin Pond Road at Foxworth Road.
Troopers said Fernando Lopez was driving a Ford F-350 on Loflin Pond Road and tried to turn left onto Foxworth Road.
Jeffrey Allen, the driver of a Nissan Xterra, was at a stop sign on Foxworth Road.
Lopez was speeding, turned too quickly, and hit Allen’s Nissan head-on.
Allen died at the scene.
Lopez, who suffered minor injuries, was arrested and taken to the Randolph County Jail.
Lopez was charged with felony death by motor vehicle, driving while impaired, careless and reckless driving, and operating a vehicle without a driver’s license.
