The workers’ compensation system was created as a benefit to help employees who are injured on-the-job get medical care and treatment, as well as disability payments for lost wages. The benefit also pays you a lump sum if a medical report shows you have a permanent injury. Workers’ compensation laws have “caps,” which limit the amount of money that can be awarded and, also unlike a personal injury lawsuit, you can’t receive money for pain and suffering.
