Zero Compensation for Worker’s Compensation Pain and Suffering
May 5 , 2017When a worker suffers a workplace injury, it is often a painful experience. That pain can lead to emotional distress (suffering), for which workers feel they should be compensated. However, NC law does not allow workers to receive payment for pain and suffering. Under the Workers’ Compensation Act, injured workers are entitled to payment for three benefits:
* Payment for medical treatments,
* Payment for lost wages,
* Payment for permanent injuries.
Workers’ Compensation does not pay any money for loss of enjoyment of life, irritation, or aggravation, although those are certainly present in every Workers’ Compensation claim. That’s why it’s important to recover every penny possible for the benefits to which you are entitled. As always, if you have been hurt, please feel free to call our office for a free consultation.
