APD officers responded to Tot Hill Farm Road after being told about a truck that had overturned in a field.
Fire and EMS personnel arrived and began rendering aid before APD officers arrived. Once officers arrived, they learned a white 1996 Toyota T-100 truck had driven onto the property of the Asheboro Regional Airport via Tot Hill Farm Road.
The truck bypassed the airport’s perimeter fence, entering a large field southeast of the airport. According to police, the truck was operated carelessly and recklessly, ultimately causing it to overturn. Dixon and the 46-year-old man were ejected from the truck’s bed during the incident.
The driver escaped unharmed, while the other passenger sustained minor injuries, receiving treatment at the scene before being released. Kyle David Dixon suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries, according to police.
