Breaking News: Woman Dies in Davidson County Crash Day After Police Chase

November 1 , 2024

Davidson County, North Carolina — October 31, 2024 — According to Queen City News and the North Carolina Highway Patrol, a Concord woman is dead, and a teenage driver has been charged in connection to a crash with a vehicle that was involved in a police chase on I-85 just the day before.

On Thursday, Oct. 31, around 7:30 p.m., troopers responded to a deadly accident involving a red Mazda CX9 on NC 150 just North of Mt Carmel Road in Davidson County.

The passenger, Kayla Lynn Taylor, 33, of Concord, died from her injuries at the scene.

The day before, on October 30, 2024, Salisbury Police tried to pull over a red Mazda CX9 on Jake Alexander Blvd. During the chase, police eventually called it off on I-85 North as the vehicle continued into Davidson County.

Troopers said the Mazda involved in the deadly accident was the exact vehicle from the chase.

As the investigation continued, law enforcement was informed of two minors at the Rowan Regional Hospital in Salisbury who were being treated for injuries believed to be connected to the deadly crash and chase the day before.

The driver, a 17-year-old from Salisbury, has been charged and placed in a juvenile holding facility in Concord.
