Breaking News: Multi-Vehicle Accident in Greensboro County, NC Leaves One Dead

October 31 , 2024

Greensboro, North Carolina — October 30, 2024 — According to My Fox 8 and the Greensboro police, one person is dead, and several more are injured as the result of a series of crashes on Interstate 40 East near Exit 214 for Wendover Avenue.

Investigators say a Greensboro woman was stopped for an unknown reason in an eastbound lane of I-40 near Wendover Avenue in a 2017 Nissan Rogue when a 2019 Ford Transit traveling in the same lane struck the Nissan Rogue.

According to police, the Ford driver tried to swerve to the left to avoid the crash but ultimately still collided with the woman’s SUV.

Multi-Vehicle Accident

Investigators say that the woman exited her SUV, and a Nissan Sentra traveling east on I-40 crashed into her Nissan Rogue. A Toyota Camry then crashed into the back of a Toyota Prius, which then collided with the Nissan Rogue and the woman, who was still standing outside.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by Guilford County EMS.

The driver of the Ford Transit was not injured, and all others involved in the crashes suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at local hospitals.

Police say impairment is not considered a factor in the crashes, and GPD’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is conducting the investigation.
