Breaking News: One Dead, Multiple Others Injured in Catawba County Crash
September 29 , 2024Conover, North Carolina — September 28, 2024 — According to WCNC, one person died and multiple other people were injured in a crash in Catawba County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Officials say that a 2013 Hyundai Sonata traveling south on Fairgrove Church Road ran a red light and was hit by a 2015 Dodge Ram.
The driver of the Hyundai, 24-year-old Mauricio Diaz Gomez of Hickory, died at the scene. A woman and child who were in the car with him were transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Dodge and a child passenger were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials say no charges will be filed in this case.
